Kruger announced today its intention to
seek certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an international
non-profit organization that supports environmentally appropriate, socially
beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.
"This decision is consistent with Kruger's long-standing commitment to
sustainable forest management practices," said Denis Boissonneault,
Vice President, Environment and Operations Support. "Achieving FSC
certification will provide further guarantees that our company is
environmentally responsible and continues to maintain the highest
sustainability standards."
Over the years, Kruger has achieved and maintained several
certifications, including CAN/CSA-Z809 (Sustainable Forest Management),
ISO 14 001 (Forest), and PwC-ICoC(TM) 2005 (sourcing of fibre and certified
product sales).
